Blinded By The Bite Giveaway – Pair of Passes to WholeFoods “Do Something Reel” Film Fest

I was delighted when approached by Whole Foods about giving away two passes to this Sunday’s “Do Something Reel” Film Festival, featuring the movie “The Apple Pushers.”  If you can tell me what year the Sustainable Food Center was founded you’re the winner of a pair of tickets for Sunday’s viewing!

This will be my second year attending the Whole Foods Film Festival series and I am always impressed and struck by the films screened during this series and their continued efforts to work in a sustainable manner and implement and improve their sustainable practices as a business and in giving back to the community.  This years events proceeds support the Sustainable Food Center here in Austin.

The “Do Something Reel” film festival kicks off  Earth Day, which starts Sunday, April 22.  The film “The Apple Pushers” will be debuted at Tim League‘s newest Alamo Drafthouse location on Slaughter Lane.

Celebrate Earth Day locally on April 22 at Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane in Austin

WHAT: Whole Foods Market kicks off its annual Do Something Reel Film Festival with a live screening of ¬Å“The Apple Pushers¬Â in Austin on April 22, Earth Day.   Proceeds from each $25 ticket purchased will help benefit the Sustainable Food Center.

¬Å“The Apple Pushers,¬Â narrated by Academy Award nominee Edward Norton, and underwritten by the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, follows five immigrant street-cart vendors who are offering fruits and vegetables in New York neighborhoods where fresh produce isn¬â„¢t widely available. The vendors, who take part in a unique urban experiment called The NYC Green Cart Initiative, personify what it means to be an American entrepreneur, and their stories shed new light on the nation¬â„¢s food crisis and skyrocketing obesity rates.

The online, video-on-demand film festival is an ongoing collection of provocative films about food and environmental issues that launches with a live screening event in five cities across the country. The festival¬â„¢s proceeds will also help fund two $25,000 AFI Silverdocs grants for filmmakers in the green genre.

WHO:  ¬Å“The Apple Pushers¬Â screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the film¬â„¢s writer and director, Mary Mazzio; executive producer, Laurie Tisch; and celebrity chef Michel Nischan, streamed live from Alamo Drafthouse¬â„¢s Slaughter Lane Theater in Whole Foods Market¬â„¢s hometown of Austin, TexasDebi Mazar, ¬Å“Entourage¬Â and Cooking Channel’s ¬Å“Extra Virgin¬Â star, will host the discussion.   You can even send in questions via Twitter!
